Academic and Research Library Project Information
FERRIS STATE UNIVERSITY LIBRARY FOR INFORMATION, TECHNOLOGY AND EDUCATIONTo give heightened awareness to 21st century resources, to new directions in teaching and learning at this first class institution and to expand the space available for library collections and user facilities, the administration of Ferris State University called for a landmark new building. Michaels Associates, together with the library faculty and staff, core faculty from the Center for Teaching, Learning and Faculty Development and the Center for Distributed Learning and the University Architect, developed a building program for an exciting cultural, information and communication center. Andrea Michaels was asked to continue beyond programming as liaison between the University and the design team through Design Development with Gwathmey Siegel & Associates Architects and Neumann-Smith. FLITE opened to accolades in the fall of 2000.
